Even after nearly ten years being in elective office and working on water issues, Danny is still best known for his work as a bicycling advocate, sports magazine publisher and sports events promoter. He brought that enthusiasm for bicycling and other forms of recreation with him to AMAFCA. Unfortunately, AMAFCA’s enabling legislation doesn’t allow it to build recreational facilities. Fortunately, AMAFCA owns lots of property with recreational possibilities that goes unused most of the time.
For this reason, AMAFCA is happy to allow other governmental agencies to build recreational facilities on its property. AMAFCA facilities do double duty as a hang gliding landing field, an equestrian park, little league baseball fields, Frisbee golf course, softball fields, golf courses, soccer fields, running trails, and, of course, bike trails.
Danny would like to see more AMAFCA facilities used for recreation and is in communication with both Bernalillo County and the City of Albuquerque to help get more recreational facilities built on AMAFCA property. There is even a plan-in-the-making to build a new trail network / linear park that would go, uninterrupted by roads, from the far South Valley all the way to Petroglyph National Monument on the far west side of Albuquerque.
Help Danny get reelected and he will make this trail system a reality.
